Gibraltar has a Standard Origin Procedure to make this easy for you: Upon arrival at your current location (Origin), our drivers will introduce themselves and review information previously discussed with our office staff. This review includes pricing, documentation, insurance, and the nuts and bolts of your move. Please take the time to understand the inventorying and documentation process, as well as the insurance coverage, so your move goes as smoothly as possible.
You may wish to create your own inventory of items to be moved and to share that list with your New Jersey Movers. Gibraltar will create a detailed inventory at the time of loading. We will tag and color code virtually all of the household contents to be moved in Gibraltar’s care and custody.
Ensure that you take all your valuable documents, jewelry, and medicine. Inform your New Jersey Movers of any potential problems that may be encountered at either the loading or unloading location. These concerns could include availability of parking, elevators, restricted hours or days of delivery, and accessibility. At Gibraltar, our moving checklists will assist you to address these requirements. Reserve truck parking space for your New Jersey Movers to load at the origin and/or unload at the destination. Have all your household items completely boxed, sealed, and correctly labeled. We regularly perform total, substantial, and partial packing services which are an additional cost, but worth the price to have qualified, experienced movers perform this specialized service which in so many cases the shipper is not equipped to perform. There are also very important insurance considerations/ implications regarding the applicability of separately purchased third party insurance contracts and how the contract is applied under its Terms and Conditions to Carrier Packed (CP’s) items and containers versus Packed By Owner (PBO’s) containers. Specialized inventories and packing lists in triplicate are distributed and sealed in CP containers, corrugations, and/or wood crates. High value CP items are sometimes photographed and/or video recorded for documentation purposes. High value CP shipments can be insured at full replacement value up to $200K. Insurance for shipments that have a declared value in excess of $200K can be obtained through our insurance company’s underwriting department. Certificates of insurance are issued at the time of purchase. We can hang your items in self-standing garment wardrobes. Each portable wardrobe holds approximately 40 garments, and our personnel will even hang your clothes in your new closets. Provide a layout/schematic of your new home to your New Jersey Movers. When using our free cartons, remember to complete the legend on the outside of the box. Procedurally your New Jersey Movers will require electrical items to be disconnected and gas lines capped. Gibraltar will disconnect and reconnect your washing machine, refrigerator, and some stereo items as part of our accessorial (extra) services. All furniture and beds will be disassembled and reassembled by Gibraltar personnel.
